Lale Ozcan

Overview
Dr. Lale Ozcan received her medical degree from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa School of Medicine and did postdoctoral work at Harvard and Columbia Universities focusing on mechanisms linking metabolic stress with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Her work focuses on exploring novel signaling pathways that control metabolic homeostasis.

Research
Current research in Ozcan Lab (http://laleozcanlab.com/) focuses on identification of novel mechanisms involved in obesity-induced insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and their effects on atherosclerosis. We focus on the liver and other insulin-sensitive tissues, including adipose tissue, with an aim to bring new mechanistic insights into obesity-associated metabolic abnormalities and identify potential therapeutic targets.
